Nanban Movie Review

When Shankar announced that he is going to remake 3Idiots after he gave the mega budget Endhiran, folks were wondering if there is some hidden message in that announcement. Adding to the surprise was when Vijay was announced as the lead character in the movie. It is not the usual Vijay movie and it is a really a risky venture for both Shankar and Vijay to tread this new path. But Nanban has come out very well and kudos to Shankar for not spoiling the original script and Vijay has also done his role very well, proving that he can do other characters too and not just a mass hero. click here to read the full review.

Velayudham Movie Review

Vijay plays this role very well. There is nothing new for him and he has done such roles in almost all his earlier movies. Probably he has chosen the same role just to play it safe. If he continues this path for 2 more movies, it will get boring. Viay Antony's music is a big let down. None of the songs are worth listening but they might top some charts but they are not going to be a blockbuster!. Jeyam Raja, like his earlier movies, took a Telegu movie and remade in Tamil. Rest you can infer on what effort he might have put. Overall it is a pleasing movie for Vijay fans and its time he starts reaching out to a bigger audience and not limit himself to his fans. 7Aum Arivu - Music Review

Did the album live up to the expectation? Well when i listened to it, i had mixed feelings. Some of the songs reminded me of some of Haris's earlier work and also had a similar tone and pattern. Couple of melody tunes are definitely going to be a mega hit, no doubt about that, but still I couldnt find anything very unique about them. Also due to the trend of writing lyrics to match the tune that is already made, lyricist are forced to use some words (like nakka mukka, ballelakka)which has no meaning in any language. This album is filled with those type of words. That shows tunes were given importance rather than the lyrics which is not a good thing. Well lets go to the songs. Click here to read the full review

Deiva Thirumagan - Review

Tamil movie industry should be proud and lucky to have actors like Vikram who keeps pushing to new limits in every movie. Be it the dark role in Pithamagan to 4 different roles in Anniyan he has proved again and again that he is just not a crowd pleasure but does every role with passion. Even though this movie is high level adaptation of Sean Penn's I am Sam movie it has all the elements for a successful Tamil movie.

Engeyum Kadhal and Vaanam movie reviews

Vaanam - Simbhu always tries something different and afer a huge success with Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya, he decided to select a super hit Telegu movie 'Vedam' and remake it in Tamil. Director Krish who directed the Telegu movie has directed this movie and ths storyline invovles 5 different stories running in parallel and coming together at climax. Though the concept looks innovative, several problems plagued this movie right from actors walking out of the set to reusing some portion from the Telegu movie dubbed in Tamil. Ok lets go to the story.....

Engeyum Kadhal - Dancer/Actor turned Director Prabhu Deva's third movie. Unlike his earlier movie which was an action packed masala entertainer, this movie revolves around love, beautiful locations combined with awesome music. Ko - Tamil Movie Review

Since we set the stage earlier that this is a total masala movie, there is nothing more to add about this movie. Director has tried his level best to show a different view of photojournalist and also the aspect of showing humans as demi gods. Jeeva and Ajmal fit in their role perfectly and have done the role at ease. It is encouraging to see kollywood is finally adapting Hindi movie trend of dual heros and we see more often such movies. Usually there will be one such movie once in 5years or so but now we have this movie and soon Avan Ivan to be released and couple of other movies in the pipeline.

Deiva Thirumagan - Songs Review

Director Vijay and GV Prakash combination has provided some really good numbers in their earlier projects like Madarasapattinam etc. Deiva Thirmagan is no exception to that fact. A total of 7 tracks with couple of them sung by Vikram himself. After listening to all the songs and the lyrics, I sincerely hope it is not a remake of the Hollywood blockbuster 'I am Sam' movie. The stills of Vikram has resemblances to Sean Penn character in that movie and it also revolves around a mentally challenged person trying to get custody of his only child. Ok, lets go the songs.

Track 1 - Kadhai Solla Poren, Sung by Vikram and Shringa. Lyrics Na.Muthukumar
A peppy track that is bound to impress children. Vikram with his unusual tone and funny lyrics, GV Prakash has used very nice melody tunes to grab kids attention. It is bound to create lot of anticipation on how this song has been enacted in the movie.

Track 2 - Vizhigalil Oru Vaanavil, Sung by Saindhavi. Lyrics Na Muthukumar.
GV Prakash at his peak, wonderful lyrics, the result - an amazingly soothing and charming melody. This track is bound to top music charts across all TV and radio stations. Even though there were resemblances to several earlier tracks, this is an absolute melody.

Track 3 - Jagada Thom, Sung by SPB, Maya and Rajesh. Lyrics Na Muthukumar
Looks like this is song somewhere close to climax or at the end of the movie. Very powerful lyrics, kudos to Na Muthukumar, GV has combined it with an excellent blend of instruments to give a real solid song. It may not hit the top in the charts but it will have its own fan base.

Track 4 -  Pa Pa Papa, Sung by Vikram. Lyrics Na Muthukumar
A totally different song and GV Prakash has really given a different touch and it gives a smile in our face when we listen to this song. The lyrics are simple, very good rendition by Vikram makes this song very unique.

Track 5 - Aarariro, Sung by Haricharan. Lyrics Na Muthukumar.
Another splendid combination of music and lyrics. Very powerful and binds the listener to the song. Haricharan's vocals are phenomenal and GV has really utilized him very well.

Other 2 tracks are the regular one, that includes a very good theme music. The really good thing about this movie album is that it doesnt have any non-Tamil speaking singer singing and killing the song, like Udit Narayanan butchering Tamil. The other aspect is it doesnt have any of those funky, useless Tamil rap and the whole album solely relies on good lyrics and good music and for a change we got a total melody album. Thanks to Director Vijay, GV Prakash and Na Muthukumar.

Mappillai Movie Review

Sun Pictures and Dhanush has given tow hits earlier and decided to make it a hat trick by giving this movie but failed miserably. Well everyone knows that Sun Pictures can take any movie and make it a hit by sheer heavy marketing campaign, but now it looks like that confidence has turned into arrogance and looks like they made a bad decision by deciding any movie can be made a box office hit by just marketing campaign.

Nil Gavani Sellathey movie review - Another IT professional from US turning in a director. It makes one wonder why IT professionals turned directors are always like to take thriller/scary movies? earlier Arun directed Achamundu Achamundu, a story based on a serial killer, this one is based on a serial killer but this movie is more or less a collage of several Hollywood movies like 'I Know what you did last summer', 'Texas Chainshaw Massacre', 'Wrong Turn' etc. But all set and done, credit has to be given to the director for taking the bold step of giving more weight to the female lead (Dhaniska) and she really pulled the entire movie on her shoulders.

Elections 2011 - Captain Vijayakanth's shocking act caught on camera

With all the political parties going in full swing campaigning in their respective constituencies, here we are hit with a shocking video of the so called 'future' MGR of Tamil Nadu, Captain Vijayakanth showing his true color by beating up a party worker in public fully caught on camera. Later when asked about it, he wasnt sorry for it, rather said folks who get beaten by him will become Maharaja later and stupid statements like i did hit my party worker only.. not anybody else. As though he has every right to hit a party worker. Well looks like he failed to realise that just because someone joins his party doesnt mean they are his slaves and he can do whatever he wants.
